And yeah, I threw that in because we'd both noticed some people in fandom really wanting to give reasons for Starscream's masochism that were the standard "he's disillusioned," "he's glitched in a bad way," or my anti-favorite, "he's abused by Megatron and has come to have conditioned responses to it." My opinion of that last should be obvious from this. (I will say I have a bit more of a tolerance for it in Bayverse; the snarky half-pleasedness of the banter isn't nearly as evident, so I can buy it more easily.)
To me... Starscream is a force of nature. That's why Megatron wants him, both as a weapon in his arsenal and as a partner.
