I have on my bookshelf waiting to be read, Kierkegaard's "Purity of Heart is to Will One Thing" - I was reminded of that phrase by the thoughts of Megatron here, especially this passage:

The only keys to salvation came from within. The only salvation possible for anyone came from finding a vision and holding to it as fiercely as possible, as though your own spark would gutter out if that vision ever died.
