One of the episodes you refer to, 'Fire on the Mountain' (where SS calls TC a traitor)....uhhh, I'm pretty sure that Skyfire's optics are red. Which means that pre-Earth they probably would also have been red?

Sorry, it jumped out at me.

Skyfire always struck me as a dullard, which made me question his acuity as a scientist. Much less as a fighter. I wonder what hubris made Starscream think he could make anything out of Skyfire.
