And what you did with Wheeljack. HOLY FRAG. At once glorious (when he becomes a symbol of resistance, a myth almost) and so very, very sad.
Oh yes. I think that's the only part of this I found honestly difficult to write.
As usual, you see the symptoms, but are blind to the nature of the disease. Excellent line.
Thanks. I see Starscream as highly intelligent, efficient, and intense -- but impatient and quick to jump to conclusions. So he would notice what's going on, but not think hard about why unless he had to. Especially when he's got the disease worse than most, since he loves being fawned on and pampered.
There are touches of bleak hope all the way through this. The Autobots who are still alive, although living their own personal hells, the rumour that Bumblebee might not yet be dead. I found this a really interesting strand, and a nice counterpoint to Mirage's experiences and the reasons he's been spared.
Thanks. I did that intentionally. I feel that far too many ficthors take a side/choose a faction, and their work becomes little more than bashing of the enemy. I truly do enjoy a bit of 'Bot-crushing, especially since in canon they always win (even in AHM. Vector Sigma.) It's fun. But I think that a really successful and rich story has battling sides that are actually worthy adversaries. A story's conflict doesn't matter unless there's some reason whatever the characters are fighting against is strong, persistent, inspiring, whatever.
So even though my 'Cons won here... they won because they were able to tear holes in the 'Bots' unity, which really is a strength. I wanted to make it clear that the only reason the Decepticons continue to dominate is because they manage to keep their enemy divided, and that yes, there is a thin strand of hope for the Autobots if they can unite again somehow.
That is, however, highly unlikely, IMO. Megatron knows why he won and he knows what he's doing. And so many of the Autobots are malfunctioning severely or just plain offline.
(Primus, I'm mean to them. I really am.)
There's a wonderful rhthm throughout this which works very well, especially in the spark merging scenes.
Thanks. I sometimes wonder if I sound too flowery, but my first love is poetry, and I get easily lost in cadence.
Also, your Starscream is glorious.
Wow, thanks! I don't have the natural feel for him that I have for Megatron (really, Megatron comes to me quite easily, and I'm surprised that he works for anyone else as that feels so personal), so I often wonder if he plays right against him. I'm glad to hear he works well for you.
