That part, I am totally in love with. The idea of Optimus wearing Megatron down with affection. It has so many beautiful possibilities.
Heh. I think it's important -- and I'm sure aeon agrees, though I hate to speak for her -- for both characters to have strengths and weaknesses, understandings of the situation and each other that the other one doesn't have or doesn't expect, etc.
To my own mind, the wonderful thing about Transformers really, the thing that actually has made it endure in so many people's hearts and minds, is that when canon isn't being silly and actually gets it right, the Autobots and the Decepticons are both portrayed as members of contrasting cultures, cultures that have admirable aspects and blind spots, and cultures that both color and enrich the attitudes of their members. I think both of us really take that seriously, and I think it helps both of us to make our characters not only rich but also understandable and likable, no matter which side either of us -- or hopefully, any reader -- personally prefers.
