Oh yes. I think that's the only part of this I found honestly difficult to write. On a vaguely related tangent, last time I watched the animated movie, I almost cried at the bit where you see Wheeljack dead. Wheeljack shouldn't be dead, damnit!

A story's conflict doesn't matter unless there's some reason whatever the characters are fighting against is strong, persistent, inspiring, whatever. Damned right.
You're mean to them, but in a realistic way which works. And hey, I adore post-apocalyptic fiction, so this hits the right buttons for me ;)
